A COMMUNITY CHARTER STANDARD CLUB

LATEST NEWS

Copmanthorpe Football Club was founded in 1962 with one Senior team playing in the local league, it has now approx 300 members spread over 3 senior and 12 junior teams and is also a Soccability Coaching Centre (Pan Disability) for boys and girls across the region wanting to participate in football.

In December 2004 Copmanthorpe FC was awarded the highest accolade by the FA ‘Community Charter Standard’ since then we have increased the very successful girls section and more recently in Dec 2005 established a very popular Soccability coaching centre targeting disabled players from all across the region

Coach development is a priority at Copmanthorpe FC, with Team Managers and Coaches actively encouraged and supported through The FA’s Coach Education programme organised by the NRCFA. And it is thanks to the dedication of all the coaches and managers who in their volunteer role keep the club running with not only the training and matches but also fundraising, with the most recent a very successful sportsman’s dinner attended by guest speakers Jeff Winter and John Stiles.

The overall principles are of sport for all, sportsmanship and with the ever-increasing quality of coaching our aim is for every one to reach their full potential.
As a York City feeder club, Copmanthorpe has benefited by receiving additional help from the 'City' coaching staff, playing games against the 'City' representative teams and allowing access to their facilities. In turn a large number of able young players have been taken into the York representative teams with a good number over the last 40 years going on to play professional football.

The Sat 1st and Reserve team play in The York and District Leeper Hare league and hold lofty positions in the Premier, and Reserve A Division. A large number of the junior sides also hold 1st division status in most cases three divisions of very popular York and District Leagues.

Our aims and objectives as a Charter Standard Club

  • Recruitment and retention policies to grow current playing membership across all age ranges.

  • To develop new teams and provide exit routes into the game at every level.

  • Recruit and retain volunteers for all the teams in accordance with club policy.

  • To continue to provide the opportunities at mini-soccer level in line with the current age range catered for across the York area.

  • To continue to develop opportunities for boys and girls of all abilities across as wide an age range as possible.

  • To provide for staff development opportunities, utilizing County FA support and training opportunities, along side other support offers (e.g. York City FC & York College).

  • To develop the feeder club status with York City FC for the boys, Middlesbrough FC for girls and Barnsley FC for disabled and extend this relationship, to the mutual benefit of all parties.

  • To maintain the high standards required as one of only 8 Community Charter Standard Clubs in the NRCFA region and to embrace any new initiatives, which become available from the FA.

  • To build on the existing high, quality child welfare / protection policies and give team managers access to any updates in central policy as soon as they are available.

  • To develop greater awareness of the club and its activities across the community by enhanced P R, including the development of website, links to professional bodies, updates in parish magazines and enjoyable fundraising activities.

  • To improve administration and support structure within the club with the aim of appointing development officers/ project managers to give clarity across the club for all individuals.

  • To become a centre of excellence for performance and enjoyment in  the area and provide a model to which other clubs aspire.
