Copmanthorpe FC – Girl’s section

The girl’s section of the club currently (season 2007/8) fields U12 and U14 teams in the City of York 7-a-side leagues.  The long-term aim is to add U10, U16 and senior ladies teams.

All coaches are FA qualified and CRB checked.  The emphasis is on competitive fun enabling the girls to enjoy themselves and develop their football skills.  Playing as part of a team, winning and losing, also helps the girls develop their social and teamwork skills.

The club has had some good success in recent years.  In 2005/6 the U11 team won the treble of York league, cup and end of season “world cup” tournament.  In 2006/7 the U12 team went on to retain the league title unbeaten.

Following this success several of the girls have moved on to the York Girls Centre of Excellence.  This is clearly good news for the girls and the club generally. Another consequence is that the current U12 and U14 teams are looking for a few extra girls to join the squad.

Training takes place on term-time Wednesday evenings 6-7pm.  Matches take place on Saturday mornings, only term-time but not every week.  Home games are usually played at Copmanthorpe Primary School.
